A 16 year old boy leaves a note on his neighbors porch addressed to the wife. It says: I know what you did and I will tell your
husband if you don't follow my instructions. (The 16 year old boy is only playing a joke and has no idea that his neighbors wife
has actually cheated on her weathy husband.) In the note he says at 8:15 pm when all is dark and your husband is still at work
I want you to walk (not run) to your mailbox NAKED and retrieve the message inside. You may not bring or use anything to cover yourself.

The wife is terrified her husband will find out she cheated on him and decides to follow directions. The 16 year old is shocked and happily surprised to see the wife go to her mailbox naked as he films her in all her naked glory. He posts the video on youtube with the tags "neighbor" and "the town she lives in", the video goes viral, everyone she knows, has seen her naked.

She wants him prosecuted for blackmail ...

What does the jury say?

And it seems like a good case for court tv so I guess everyone who hasn't already seen it on the internet will see it too. Technically he was only guilty of a prank until he video taped it and posted it on the internet. If he'd kept the tape and not escalated by showing the tape and threatening to send it to the neighbors, he'd have been guilty of nothing. But since he posted it, he'd probably get charged with something anyway.

Let's be honest with ourselves, a big part of the thrill we get out of these things even if they stay as just fantasies is the fact they're illegal.

I don't think he did anything illegal, not in the US anyways. I doubt the letter would be illegal, maybe harrassment but not much else.

He taped her outside her house, he wasn't peeking in her window. Nowadays there are cameras everywhere you go. As far as posting it on youtube, not sure that would be illegal either. I mean he didn't force her to go out to her mailbox naked.

Oh!!!! Maybe blackmail? But even then they'd have to prove he knew she was cheating or had something else on her, which he didn't.

I think he gets off scott free.

As soon as he posted the video on the internet he broke the law. In some States here in the US he'd be subject to criminal violation of privacy laws but he'd definitely have left himself open to civil charges which would have been hard to fight. So even if he beat a criminal case he could look forward to a civil judgment that would remove any chance of college or a decent future.

So the lesson here is go ahead and video tape her but keep it for your own use. Don't post it.

Not guilty of anything. For him to commit 'blackmail' he had to have known of her infidelity and had to write the note with criminal intent. No on both counts.

As for filming her, it's the wife that is committing the crime of indecent exposure. Even filming it is not a crime. There is a reasonable expectation that if you make yourself visible on a street/driveway the rest of the public can see you. Filming it is no different than filming on a city street for random footage.

Kudos to the young man for the perfect non-crime!!
