Famous people we have met.
I thought I'd start a new thread where members can tell each other which famous people they have met. By 'met', I mean either spoken to or shaken hands with. Please - no bullshit, be truthful and describe as briefly as possible the circumstances. I thought I'd start off as an example.
HM the Queen. (Me - 'Good morning your Majesty'. HM - 'And what do you do here?' Me - 'I'm a safety fitter Ma'am.' HM - 'How very interesting!') Princess Alexandra. I danced one dance with her at a Territorial Army Regimental Ball (clammy hands and all.) I had no choice. I was volunteered. Can't remember what I said. Gough Whitlam, Prime Minister of Australia. (PM - 'Can I rely on your vote Comrade?' Me - 'You certainly can Mr. Whitlam.') Bob Hawke, Prime Minister of Australia. Along with half a dozen other union officials, I got as pissed as a newt with Hawkie and spent the night on his hotel room sofa. Billy Connolly. Met him in the street, introduced myself and talked about Scotland. He gave me two free tickets to his show. He's seriously funny. The late Andy Stewart. great Scottish singer. I played the pipes at two of his concerts and sang a duet with him. He patted me on the back and told me he thought we were great together. I treasure that moment. Lindy Chamberlain. The dingo took and killed little Azaria, her daughter. The family lived in the same street as us and we knew them well. I know the true story and can assure everyone that she did not kill Azaria as the police tried to make out. (If anyone is REALLY interested in what happened - PM me.)

Your PM is full Batfink
This is what i wrote : I read the the case regarding the dingos. Years ago, I didn't believe the police statements. Also a few years ago some (i think they said farmers) admitted to seeing the dingo with the baby but didnt say anything in fear of being accused so they kept quiet.

Not really a celebrity as such, but I nearly got shot by the bodyguard of the Sultan of Brunai's Wife and daughter.
The story? I was at work, coming back from lunch when I spied an empty cage stuck on the shopfloor, knowing that the visit was iniment, I thought I'd better get rid of it. So I walk onto the shopfloor, go to move it when, from behind on of the fixtures pops up this SAS gorilla, giving me the 'what the fuck are you upto' stare, anyway one of the managers runs other and goes 'it's alright he works here' Other then that, Glenn Murphy from Londons Burning when I worked on the menswear department, sold him some socks, opened the till to get his change to find that no bugger had put any change in there, so I then spent the next five minutes trying to get change out of another till

Lemmy from Motorhead. Walked in a pub in Elephant one day and there was this bloke sat at the bar drinking whiskey. So I sat next to him, ordered the same, we got chatting and buying drinks. Took me about half an hour to realise who he was.
Pleasant bloke, didn't share his stash though. I also worked on the home of Sir David Frost, only Lady Frost was there though. Dave Brock from Hawkwind who was just a twat. I had tea at Paddy Pantsdowns house when he was still leader of the libdems. Pleasant bloke, we talked about desert storm and The Public Order Act and whether or not it discriminated against scum like me. His son was a dickhead and I ended up shagging his girlfriend who I had gone to Paddys house with. I think he would have made a good Priminister because he came across as a thoughtful, understanding and intelligent man with a broad experience and outlook on life. Steve McFadden who plays Phil Mitchell in Eastenders, I didn't actually meet him, but his Jag and my Scorpio nearly met on a side street in Muswell Hill one day. We exchanged pleasantaries and went our seperate ways. Sharon Davies the Olympic swimmer came to my school one day. I stared at her tits and thought about her when I had a wank that night.

ive actually met quite a few famous people.
back in 2005 i met david gilmour and the late richard wright after a show they played here for the On An Island tour, and then in 2007 i had VIP passes to roger waters show here and got to meet him afterwards. both times went pretty much the same, i got their autographs, told them how awesome they are, but with roger i had asked him a question about the opera he translated, Ca Ira, and we neded up talking about it for about 20 minutes XD just last summer i also met trent reznor when he came to town, it was a little brief but he was a really cool guy. as a very little kid, my mom was a publicist and i had to go to her work every day for a couple hours after school, and i got to meet many famous people, though i was so young i didnt understand. ive got pictures laying around of me beside margeret atwood and david suzuki, and a particularly endearing one of farley mowat holding me in one arm and a glass of rum in the other the one that slipped away, and ill always regret though: i was supposed to go see a george carlin show back in 2007 but at the last minute my ride crapped out on us so i couldnt go.

I met Paul Daniels and his monkey when i was living in London.
I am rubbish with names, the scary guy in Black Eyed Peas in this nightclub in London. Tiffany in Eastenders, when she was in Eastenders in Slug and the Lettuce. Got some signed autographs from some athletes but i can't remember their names. I really shouldn't have bothered to post really...

Elizabeth Taylor - even when she was fat she is easily the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Arresting purple eyes.
Robin Williams - He lives in this area and shows up at clubs now and then. He is not as insane in person. Rather quiet when not on stage. I had a brief conversation with him on the subject of taxicabs. Whoopi Goldberg - VERY nice woman, and funny. Also lives in this area so she is seen around occasionally. We had a drink together one night. Bill Gates - shook his hand once. I had to bleach it after. Bill Clinton - Very charismatic man. He just takes over a room. I helped organize a town hall meeting and talked to him very briefly. George W. Bush - Not so charismatic. Kind of a dork. Just saw him in a receiving line. Don Johnson - A serious asshole. Was good in Miami Vice but not since.

I've met Michael Stipe of REM on several occasions. He's from the area, and is such a nice guy. He always comes out to support local charities.
I've met Shawn Mullins. My best friend dated him for a while. Apparently, I met Donald Trump when I was a baby, and he hed a door for my mother, but I don't remember that. |

I met Ice-T a few years ago at The Mirage Hotel. He had two girls with him that were wearing darn near nothing but fur coats, at it was 40F outside. It was cold! He stopped and talked with the few people around him that actually recognized him, he shook my hand on the way out and told everyone to have fun but not to give the casino all your money. He was really nice to everyone there.

The most interesting famous person...
I've had the sometimes dubious privledge of having met Willie Nelson, George W. Bush, John McCain, Ross Perot, Audy Murphy, Chuck Yeager, Oliver Stone and Bruce Willis. Sadly, I didn't meet, but I saw John F. and Jackie Kennedy as they drove by just minutes prior to the assassination.
However, by far, the most the most interesting famous person that I've met was Gen. Gunther Rall. I had lunch with him and 5 other people while he was in town signing an agreement regarding his arrangement to place his signature on a number of military aircraft limited edition prints. Gunther Rall flew a Messerschmitt BF109 for Germany during World War II. He was credited with having shot down 275 allied aircraft. He was wounded three times and was shot down 8 times. His observations on the pre-war history, the war, the post war activities and the then current state of the world politics was one of the most informative hours that I have ever experienced. |

I would have loved to have met Audie Murphy, the most highly decorated US soldier of the Second World War. Gunther Rall was a Knight's Cross winner was he not?

I've meet a few Nobel Laureates and other important science people, but that's what happens when you're a physicist. At least they're famous among the few of us that are scientists .
