For some reason it is popular... It originated in the Old Testament of the bible, no clue why others picked it up... All I can say is that I'm glad I'm uncut, and when I have a son, I will not allow him to be mutilated in that way. If he wants it done, fine, but that can wait til he's an adult. Sorry, an infant can't make those sorts of decisions and I think it's abhorrent that a parent would do that to their child.

Well, like most inventions of religious books (Bible, Qur'an, Talmud, etc.) circumcision has a simple, practical background, in this case a medical one.
During eras when washing wasn't something done on a daily basis (and I suppose we all have met people who still stick to that

) removal of the foreskin simply reduced health risks.

I could also tell you about the most accepted theory as to why it became so popular in the US but you better go find it yourself - otherwise I'll be accused of US-bashing once again.

The health aspect makes sense in light of ancient practices now that you mention it -- that part hadn't occurred to me. Still no excuse for it to continue on today

I don't see any reason to continue circumcising boys today either. Well, there might be one ... the guys I met without the collar left weren't as sensitive (their bell-end) to stimulation - since their all-day protection was gone - and thus could hold back climaxing for a longer period of time since their. So the advantage for the female population is obvious.

Seriously - there still are medical risks (also few social and psychological ones) so I can't give a reasonable explanation as to why it is still done so vigorously these days.

Since I don't have a penis however I am unable to give any first-hand experiences, you'll have to ask the guys about their thoughts on being circumcised or not.

Mostly health teasons yes! and still in use in many countrys besides the US. One country they wait until the boys are 14 then...snip....ouch!

Long as guys wash daily and after sex no problems but some do come up. But its a matter of choice mostly!

Besides with more skin its much easier to get the ring in the tip for the chain!
