Now, if you want to discuss social pressures to look, act, a certain way. Sure, fine. What about Mo Farrah? One of the most outstanding athletes this country has ever produced. As the way goes, he has to run around in the rain to get wet. I don't ever read about long distance athletes being slated as bad role models for potential anorexia sufferers. Yet they are under as much pressure as any ballet dancer. All athletes are. They're under pressure because if they are any good, and they want to succeed, their coach or trainer will be just as keen for that success. The plain truth is, if you engage in any form of physical activity, body fat is dead weight.

To be fair, its burned off. Not dead-weight. With the strict diets athletes eat their fat intake is very low and as they get closer to competition their body fat is burned for energy as they step up training.

I burn my way through an awful lot of energy in my lifestyle. Between the gym, running or swimming and of course dancing I can get through alot more calories than most young women. Leading me to have quite a high-fat diet because I don't want to get too "ripped"....its not what men want to see in strippers and I like a bit of a soft edge on my body. So Maccy Ds gets alot of my money. But like I say. I burn it off

Body fat is dead weight in the sense that it doesn't do any work. It may provide a little buoyancy to a swimmer so they wouldn't need to be quite as ripped as a runner for example. To most athletes though, energy stored as body fat is just superfluous because its too much hard work for the body to access it, and although fat is lighter than muscle, it does so little work that carting it around for 26 miles, or 600 miles of laps in a Formula 1 car is just inefficient.

Of course, there are exceptions to this. A weight lifter or a thrower can get away with carrying a few tyres around, because they haven't got to take it anywhere.

It's kind of a neat idea in that if your battery has a low charge, the car computer will read it and shut down some electrical features of your car in order to ensure that you have enough juice to restart your car and get home. Also it charges the battery differently as the battery ages, so if you don't register the new battery to the car computer, it will charge it like it did the old one, meaning it will over charge it and kill the life expectancy of your new battery quickly. It's a necessary evil, I just refuse to have the dealership do it. I'll buy the software myself and do it on my own. It's still a pain in the ass and they should have made it so that you can reset the thing on your own without special software or tools just like you can reset the sensors.

Sounds like my Ford Dealer where my GPS maps need updating and they want $200 for a simple one time software update . Hell, I can buy a new GPS portable system with lifetime map updates for $100 and I can use it in any car. As you say Lysn, "Fuck You car manufacturer." You are NOT going to keep me sucking from your teat.

My advice, always check out any manufacturer and their "good ideas," which try to chain you to them and charge exorbitant costs for the life of ownership.
