I thawed four freshly killed blue quail, and got the outdoor grill properly cleaned and primed. I stoked the fire with mulberry and mesquite wood. The quail cooked (more properly smoked) for nine minutes while I prepared angel hair pasta in chicken broth with a little crushed garlic. I added a couple of grilled sour cream and pecan filled jalapeÃ±os for a bit of flare!

I served it all with a quarter pound of cauliflower that was steamed in lemon butter and clam sauce.

I set the table with our silver and best china! After an extraordinary meal, my wife and I took a shower and we played games until we both won. She fell sound asleep, but I was still restless. Therefore, I am here to report our activities!

If she had worn those yellow leotards with the snaps in the crotch, I'd still be sleeping!

While we were playing games, my chocolate almond tort dessert overcooked. My brown lab seemed to enjoy it with most vigor!

whats your limit over there? im stocked on duck a goose from this last season so i make allot of stew with'em i never have any upland game left over i eat it the day i shoot it lol,

It's just possible you took me a bit too seriously my friend. I very much appreciate your culinary skills and consider myself no slouch either, I thought it was funny that I posted about pasta and then you posted about a rather eloquent dinner involving quail etc.

Limits are a bit of a limbo question here! I hunt blues and bobs in Vernon,Texas. There is about 2,800 acres of bottom land with a cattle feeding lot at the top of the basin. We hunt all day and then drive back to the motel past the feed lots. The owner will not allow the discharge of a shotgun close to the feed lots. There is a realistic fear of range cattle bolting and breaking legs and causing serious physical damage. So,several decades ago, I purchased a suppressed 22 caliber Ruger pistol with a bull barrel and a laser sight. When we leave the hunt, I simply shoot the blues and bobs out of my truck window like sitting ducks. It ain't sporrting, but the meat is extraordinary!

I have some duck and goose recipes that will make you want to slap your mother!

BTW, I brew my own beer! I have my Czech grandfather's recipe and it will make you want to slap Bud and Weiser at the same time!

ya i grew up on a ranch and we had 300 head(not much) and i understand that fully

Never made beer, but have made a few batches of wine. Back in the day when I lived in a trailer we used to go and raid the supermarket skips. Any fruit or freshly squeezed juice used to get turned into wine. My own favourite was mango and ginger wine.
