Hi,

I would like to get some perspective how an actress prepares for and approaches a rape scene?

Anyone have any thoughts, or advice or knows of an actress discussing her rape scene?

Yes. I've made amateur rape films myself, which are sometimes very, very realistic. The difference with other types of films is that actresses do not want to prepare for the role. It makes acting in them far harder, unless you have a storyline. The best way of doing this is to allow the male actors to create an atmosphere which puts the actress in a nervous or slightly paranoid position. This is why BDSM/humiliation is easier to do - it's difficult to recreate the realism with a willing rape actress. As far as the actress goes, the Russian films are quite tame, as they are simply acting (often not very well). Focussing on the bad points of the film - the not knowing, not having any control, positions one doesn't like, the male actors body odour, can help, as can mentally picturing disturbing scenes and not knowing how realistically the actors are taking it. The actresses are often only as good as the actors, who are mostly cast on whether they can keep it up on camera.

For mainstream or serious acting scenes, this is different. Mostly the director should take the lead to instill the emotion he/she wants. Good focussing techniques are remembering some time you were actually terrified for your life, and following the emotional cues. Also it's good to become more 'physical' with any restraining/fighting back, which can help you recreate some feelings of being used or attacked. If you're not a rape fantasist, imagining this is for real is obviously going to make the acting easier. Again, the atmosphere is a help. Making rape films often means from the minute the girl is on set, she will be treated like dirt, or made to feel like a piece of meat, and good actors act obnoxiously to her, to remove feelings of trust, etc. This could be used in mainstream films by method actors, I'm not really sure. I have actually slapped a girl hard to make her cry before, as she simply couldn't cry on queue. She told me after it did wonders for her vulnerability and psychologically during filming

Generally I'd say yes, although I find this simply results in something which seems half-hearted, like many of the Russian films... You know where the girl opens her mouth without much persuading, says 'nyet' now and then, and sobs with no tears. Really this is the fault of the male actors, who are really the lead in creating the rape. What makes a girl a great victim on film is if she can actually try and fight back properly, and use a few method acting tricks, like feeding off the bloke's emotions or looks. There are certain parts it is just hard to fake while you're fucking, to be blunt, hehe.
I might be making another film this summer, so I'll take some behind the scenes footage for everyone to peruse if they're interested?

Anal rape I won't lie, is a little difficult if someone isn't relaxed, but there are ways around this ;-) close ups of expressions and fear are of course a speciality. Showing penetration close ups and so on is really just vanilla porn and bad artistry. I'll definitely be sharing some with you all. Just need to start finding some actors for the next one...

You're welcome :-) like I say it's really down to the male actors to prompt the girl(s). Unless you're working with highly expensive professional actors, it's very difficult to re-enact the scenes. Even in major films, they rarely last longer than a few minutes. Imagine having to go for an hour or more, with varying emotions from fright, to silent breakdown, to anger which must look realistic, all the while having sex! Not easy. The whole thing should become psychological, so even though the actress is well aware this is fantasy, she will have her doubts and fears.
Out of curiosity, is this something you have thought about doing, or is it just curiosity?

The psychology to me is the most important part (well... Other than safety of course...). As far as boundaries go - it's best for the male actors to push them slightly. I say slightly as it's easier to back off then if it's REALLY not ok. Plus it helps the realism. After all rape is essentially about breaking any boundaries, and having an 'up for it slut' doesn't do wonders when it's supposed to look like forced sex.
The problem of course, is the psychology of knowing it's not 'real' and 'safe'. Creating that feeling of uncertainty and fear is quite an art - even if I say so myself ;-)

As I had to tell someone recently, I lost EVERYTHING on my hard drives a couple of months ago (which is all the more heartbreaking as I had my children's baby photos and things on there too :-(). I only sold privately, or for commissioned films, but there are one or two of my girls audition videos and photos on the internet. I'll get some links for you when I get home :-)
As for stories: I have a fair few yes. One girl I made a film with told me she felt liberated by being raped on camera, that it removed the pressure she felt knowing it's the girl's decision whether to have sex in our culture.

Anyway, it so happens I have plans for three different films this year. The first is a drawn out psychological/stalking rape. The second idea came from a member her, and involves a prim/business like office type being brought back down to Earth and humiliated.
The last is still in early stages of planning, but briefly comes from the idea of gang initiations and the criminal underworld. This last one may actually be quite a long film, hopefully with some decent acting hehe.
In all my videos, I pay attention to realism and detail. As none of these are commissioned, I may make a lot of copies.
And I will be doing some 'behind the scenes' filming to share with anyone interested, and some filming of the interviews and auditions :-)

There may actually be one film which is on the internet, as it was around 3 years ago, but it may have been removed or available on P2P sites. It was called 'Antisocial Behaviour'.
It was filmed for the first part in snippets, of various ways a girl and her friends were terrorising a hypothetical estate (filmed in High Wycombe). This was mixed with scenes of a local drug dealing gang, with the obvious sub-text they were annoyed with police presence in the area due to the antisocial behaviour. The final short scene where there is a night time confrontation, with the drug dealers pulling guns on the ASBO kids. The three boys run off, leaving two girls there, still being cocky to the gang and goading them to shoot them. One is pistol whipped in the face, the other is choked from behind and both dragged into a car.
There is a very short scene in the car where the gang decide what to do and where to take them, the girls still trying to act hard...

After recovering from the winding she goes quiet. Then the arm grabber pulls her off of the floor, and I walk over and rip her top off, which suddenly frightens her....

Here's some of the tricks we used to film it for those interested.
Pistol whipping, even with a metal replica (now hard to buy here) is pretty dangerous. So a plastic BB gun was simply painted to look real. As for the slaps/punches. These did connect, but pulled so only enough pain the girls were comfortable with was used. The main thing you see in bad rape movies is everyone silent apart from any short dialogue. It was more realistic for people to stay in character and talk in the background throughout, adding to the atmosphere. Filming did stop in the flat twice as people were pissing themselves with their gangster talk!
Ripping off clothes, even for a very strong man such as me, is kind of difficult. So we specially made small in visible cuts in clothes so they would come away more easily. Only for cocky girl of course. Quiet girl was forced to do a striptease for the guys.
Cameras: three were used, two normal digital and one mobile phone camera. Short scenes were cut in from this to add to the realism.
