Hey Myworld...take a look at your postcount and your rep...under the current state of play, you are able to access all of the postcount restricted links. You have been and I am sure are regarded as a valued member.
When Sani first stated that a system would be put into place to benefit "active" users. he did state that it wouldn't just be for movie posters and the like.
So I don't think you have anything to worry about.

For the record everyone, a leecher is someone who reposts anothers links claiming to be their own.

No, I think the "former member" could well be looking for a way to be as big of pain in the ass as he possibly can. Link protection is actually a good idea...now more than ever!

Perhaps Rape Board should go to a system were one must be logged in to view any part of the forum beyond a log on screen, I think that would be a huge help in preventing the lurker reporting.

Another thing that could help is some kind of hidden link system where the members who open the *hidden links* drop down box and are privy to what those links are is known to the administrators or your user name appears inside the drop down box itself, sort of like a "thanks" user name list that some forums have. Since I mentioned it having "thanks" box would go a long way to eliminate the "thx" spam, as well.

Of course, somebody will inevitably re-post the links (leach) on another board and then all bets are off on a system like that. Do hosts like rapidshare allow Premium users to limit the referrer list so the links wouldn't be accessible from other non-authorized boards?

It is a real balancing act between reasonably free access and protecting the uploader from mass deletions. Just having the caps and actual names of movies and players is enough for me in a lot of cases because I can get much of the stuff through other P2P means if I know what to search for.

Can't agree with these comments enough, I have never really been that active on the board so have to put up with the rules made by the board admin and not moan and graon about it, at the end of the day if I want more say in things I should have been more active inthe past...

I am very greatful to yourself and other great posters like 'Sanitarium, touriquet2001, Oldpig, Frenchy' to name but a few who have uploaded videos at your own time and expense, so thank you all.

As for the Idiots who are spamming the posts to increse their own 'post count' numbers... I do wish they would stop it before they ruin things for everyone including themselves. Can they really not see the damage they are doing to a great board by their selfish and stupid actions!

Hey Kinkybloke...you actually make my point for me in your response. I know, and all the other board members know that you and others are grateful for all the uploading work. For all but the most extreme of us you CAN view files that are on offer...and you haven't needed to flood the pics and movie forum with pointless posts.
Hopefully you will understand that it is regrettable for me to feel the way I do. But i have been led to a position of removing my video posts, because if video posts don't exist on the board then there isn't much for the spammers to spam for.

from time to time there WILL be incidents like you had with things suddenly going wrong... then over time it will get sorted out... and things will return to normal...

Anyways, Sani, I understand the need to change the system and reduce lurkers/leechers and I support it. I'm just saying that, sure links used to die now and then, but until recent months it wasn't this bad. ANd there was a lot less spamming back then because replying to posts were completely voluntary, so those who did bother to register and reply did it out of courtesy and sincerity. I understand completely about Lemarkand's concerns, it's disheartening to see all these mindless drones replying to threads with hollow thanks, and even when you yell at them they just ignore you because they don't even remember which threads they replied in, they certainly dont revisit them!

I will be interested to see what kind of changes Rapeboard will make. But let me just state one final point: the "rat", if there really is one or some, their purpose in reporting links is to try to disrupt our wonderful community. They can't possibly shut us down since this site/forum is legal, otherwise they would have done so already, so they must resort to these underhanded tactics. So we must never let them win. If we go private and place heavy restrictions on links, that would push out 85% (guesstimate) of the community and the rat will have won. Mods, admins, please keep this in mind when considering your changes!

ps- im not moaning because im afraid that i will be left out, i wont, i will start contributing myself very soon, im just very tired at this moment both physically and mentally, i need to sort some things out in life and then hopefully i will be able to share some things and particpate more in discussions. Maybe even a couple of fights or two in the rowdy room

Isn't that one of the reasons you want to stop posting because files keep getting taken down because some loser keeps reporting them. I wish we had a feature on here which tracked every single person on here and is invasion of privacy because I'm so sick of links being deleted so quick. And mentally it messes with my brain because I can't fathom on why someone would come on here every day just to report files, isn't that freaking weird? Now, don't jump all over me for putting forth a thought. Yes, I spent quite a bit of time downloading videos before signing up. I have also spent time a posted some videos. I happen to like when someone posts a thanks. However I can see where some don't really care. It seems a big complaint is that posting a thanks makes it tough to find the link posts.

Since this site has a thread tools section, is there any reason someone just doesn't add a "Links Only" filter. Then for those that just want the links, they can have them and those that want to read a thanks can have that also. As I have built about 1000 web sites I happen to know this is easy to do.

It's too bad you feel that you need to do this, but it's completely justifiable. This would be a workaround, but it wouldn't really solve the problem. Looking through the threads there used to be conversations going on, members would share thoughts about the movies, and in general just be more friendly. This solution would give clearer access to the movies, but any conversations would still be instantly crushed by the spam. If we want RB to survive, we need to keep the community intact, not just make it a movie repository.

i must echo angel dust's sentiments. Personally, i dont think that leechers/lurkers deserve/need to see any links at all, including myself as up till about 2 weeks ago a former leecher.

However, i caution you from making your membership so exclusive that this board, which is, as far as i have been able to find the best and most active board for the last year +; from becoming so restrictive that you make it harder to be apart of this board than its worth to be a member.

I know myself and others have seen other boards do this and i don't think anyone can argue that an overloaded board is better than a dead board.

rapeboard rocks and always has, as a new member interested in keeping/getting this board back to what it was i encourage all the members to hold the line...and party...people who have no interest in posting will move on eventually

What do you mean by pointless posts.
From your join date, I see you have been around here a lot longer than I have. From this, I conclude (might be totally off, of course) that you have quite a few clips downloaded.
So go ahead and upload a few of them, that have been killed by RS/The Rat.
If your upload speed sucks, choose some smaller ones and let the pc run during sleep time (that´s what I have to do too to get anything done).
