Europeans and rape fantasy
The thread "Rape fantasies in men and women" got me thinking about the question of how open (or not) Europeans are to talking about or admitting to have rape fantasies compared to Americans (in that one of the problems is the question of how do you breach a subject thats such a huge social taboo).
I know its a no-no in the UK from the way laws are being passed there, but Europe is Big and has a lot of (to an American) strange cultural mixes. Is it more permissible or accepted, less, some combination, or simply looked at as a less-savory kink? EN |

Well, I haven't been back in England for quite some time, so I never really cared for the situation over there.
Germany is pretty open-minded and liberal concerning rather "unusual" sexual preferences. Germany's capital Berlin for example has a homosexual man as mayor. Jobs as prostitute or dominatrix are accepted in the bigger part of society as regular jobs with insurance, pension and everything you'd expect from any other job. The concept of rape fantasies isn't as outlawed as it is in many other countries but people still have their trouble understanding how someone can fantasise of being raped/raping someone whithout being (at least slightly) disturbed. In the bigger cities however there are nightclubs, private clubs, ... for almost everything. Swinger clubs, BDSM, whatever fetish you like. So I have to say Germany is quite nice to people who don't go with mainstream. The Germans are much more concerned with visual violence - especially in video games. Sexual fetishes don't concern them that much.

Here its still a taboo.Perhaps u can speak about it with friends, but not with older people. In general, if u speak about it, u must be ready to be told "abnormal".

I my expirience, a lot of older people tend to be very conservative and critical of anything out of the normal sexual standards (read: missionary). But my country is catholic and untill recently was very rural, so this is not surprising. Younger people on the other hand, especially from urban comunities, are much more liberal and consider rape fantasy as "another one of those S&M stuff".

Sounds somewhat like the US. Here I've had very good responses from the people I talked to, but they were generally either very bright and open minded, or already into it and that was how we met. But it's not something I would talk about a work, or to someone I didn't know very well or hadn't met already knowing they were into it. Sort of a secret pervy handshake. EN |

They take the same attitude to many other social borderlines (drugs, prostitution, etc). If you make an ass of yourself, you'll still be shunned/arrested, but otherwise just don't make a mess or get upset if we laugh at you. Love the Dutch. EN |

I've never talked to anyone about it, but here in Japan, "Reipu" is just another section in the porno section of the video store. I think in Japan there's pretty much an "ignore it or make money off of it" attitude towards most "fetishes" on the part of people who don't share that fetish. For those who do, well, they go hog wild.
