Once and for all {I hope} there are NO search bots scouring the web for rapidshare links to delete! It takes a human element to report the links for deletion! As Debaser notes below he has RS links on other boards which have no problems. I personally have links on half a dozen other boards and not one has been reported or deleted {and many are the same material posted here}. Why this myth is so popular is beyond me, I suppose it's easier to think that some evil automated force is at work rather than just one sad little individual with nothing better to do than spoil other people's fun.

Actually it's popular because it's the only anwser that makes any sense.

At the height of the mess I saw, (across about 5 seperate threads), over 100 links go down in less than 20 seconds of each other and they'd all been posts within the previous 10 minutes, one set of about 15 links was down just 1 minute after they went up. No Human can move that fast. Even if their is a human invlovled their using a program to drag the links of pages ionto one mass they can send to rapid all at once. And that brings me onto the next point:

At the height of things i saw large nbers of links go down within minutes of going up. Rapidshare isn't ging to ban a link just because somone reports it. If they did spiteful users would be reporting and downing all their rivals links 24/7 and they'd have a mass of complaints and disatisfied cutomers would put them out of buisness in no time. That they're taking them dfown on what seems to be one or two reports garuntees it's somone with the power to do it directly, (or who knows somone in a position to do that). Since rapidshare aren't going to pay somone, and i can't see anyone doing it off their own backs for this long, it HAS to be a bot.

Why aren't your other links going down? Because those sites aren't being targeted by rapid. This board has a lot of content up every day, even more in archives, and it's name means most people looking for this content for the first time will find this site first because of the kind of common search terms they use. Rapid can't pretend they don't know about it legally, so they have to do their best to take the links out or teir liable under copyright laws. he other sites they can claim pluasible deniability and it isn't in their intrests to honk of their copyright posting userbase, (a big chunk in other words), so they leave the links alone where they can.
