Deal breakers in dating
Is there anything physically in the opposite sex that is a deal breaker when deciding on whether you want to date them or not? Or is there something that you would overlook, but plan to change later?
For me, there is no excuse for poor choice in clothing. Its not something I can easily overlook. If I really liked the guy, I would date him but I would definitly change the way he dressed. Also, a short stature wil not be tolerated, no matter how cool the guy is. |

Damn, interesting question, I'm gonna have to have a good think about this one. In the mean time I would say that I could probably say that if there was one thing, on an otherwise attractive woman, then I could probably get past it. I would say really big, saggy, boobs is not that attractive to me. Or if the legs are really really out of proportion to the body, like I know this girl with miget legs on an otherwise normal torso.
If you mean how they choose to appear, such as choice of clothes etc then I don't like those really out there goths. You know with the knee hign leather boots with the steel all over them, and the ripped stockings and white face makeup with black lipstick. The hair doesn't look nice either, like dreads with different bright colours etc. Yeah not a fan of that at all. I like women to look nice, if she has her own style and can pull it off then that's cool. |

I very sincerely doubt I'd horrified, I know some people like that and it doesn't stop me from interacting with them what-so-ever. I think people that dress that way and are into alternative culture are less judgemental than other people sometimes. Maybe because they get looked down upon from narrow minded people, so they are more accepting than others. So in conclusion if you have your own style, whatever that may be, then more power to you. It would only be a problem for me if she was actually my girlfriend, which brings us back to narrow mindedness |

Sorry, I do respect your opinion but please - in all honesty - whoever claims "everybody is beautiful in their own way" has either been smoking pot or needs this point of view to compensate for their own physical appearance. This isn't an issue than can be debated and disputed. It can be discussed, granted, but since we all look for different things in other people we're certainly bound to have some more interested in physical features among us. Quote:

I still remember my starting days in the Gothic culture. Back then most of us felt like outsiders, having our own mindset and view upon the human nature and culture - thus making us bond together in a way. These days it has grown in a very diversified sub-culture (one that has also become a fashion and "in" culture nowadays) considering itself to be utterly exclusive, elitist and with far too many "rules of conduct and behaviour", looking down on so many people. It's just an example and there are still others out there but most "societies" tend to grow corrupt and lose their original intentions, making them no better (here meaning accepting or tolerant) than any other in the end.

You never make a joke at your own expense, I refuse to believe you.
As for that other stuff then you have a point, I can think of the Hardcore scene as a good example of what you mean. I think I was talking in the broadest term possible, so that in the alternative culture, from die hards to casuals, they are more likely to be accepting of other people, especially based on what they wear etc. I think they would come into contact with people that don't fit the 'norm' at concerts and rock bars etc; and while they might not wish to become friends with every alternative person they meet, they are certainly less likely to shout abuse at them or treat them differently based on how they look. Case in point, my friend and I were walking home through the town centre not 3 hours ago and a guy and two women felt the need to shout at him because of his long hair, we went to a gig last Thursday and no-one felt the need to say anything.

I get this alot.People missunderstanding why I say what I do sometimes. This type of humor as well as sarcasim backfires on me alot. It's hard to convey tone in a text or e-mail,or an online message such as this. Most people who first meet me think I'm a condesending prick until they get to know the wonderfull awsome person that is me. And no,I'm not british like Conrad.I'm a good ole southern boy from the US of A.(Even though I'd never be caught dead actually speaking that way!)

dress sense is def important. i dumped a guy once because i didnt like his beach towel (god i was fickle in those days) deal breakers: smokers... (im so pissed that overkill took up smoking AFTER we got married the only bone of contention I have with the man) Also no massive girth type men. big guys yes, even the old middle aged slightly beery waisted man can be pretty hot to me, but not obese and lazy. also am NOT a fan offacial hair! sharp whiskers that leave half my skin missing after a good pash yes, but not a beard. too much like my dad *shudder* unless its one of those little designer type cleft shapes or something that could be funky. come to think of it havent seen any of those guys around lately.. so it musnt be in style. I also could not go out with a man who is shorter than me. My mum used to be tall and looked exactly like morticia, and she always had husbands/artner that were bald and short it looked so wrong! so he has to be my height or taller. i would never never ver tie myself (parden the pun) to someone if there was somethig i had to change about them. id rather be a mad cat lady and have a stable of playmates (which is how i spent most of my 20s!) I really believe if you have to change something about them, then they are not right for you. Last edited by gaggirl; 11-19-2008 at 04:05 PM. |

Deal breakers?
Whew ... asking what would "not" be one might be a shorter list ... Let's see: - bad breath - bad smell in general - greasy hair/general unclean appearance - bad teeth - gnawed off fingernails - horrid way to laugh - any guy living with his parents - little pig eyes - fat guys - too thin, skeletal guys - baldness - Trekkie - stupid - uneducated - no humour - wedding ring (happens more often than you might guess) - nothing to talk about - about a hundred things more I'm also not a "changer" - either he pulls it off or he doesn't.

Me to bro, I actually have no right to say anything about women at all. I must be a really unattractive prospect for the female sex.

I dont like woman with a lot of make up. I dont think I would date somebody.
Some make up is fine but she should know when to stop. And secondly when somebody is trying to be cool and drinks way to much alcohol to show that.
