No. I have noticed exactly the opposite. And this has been historically a fact. How many women in the past were persecuted or thrown in prison ( or even murdered, sometimes...) after getting caught having sex with a person of the same sex?

They don't do that because they are "more accepted." They do it because, being men, they are far more prone to be aggressive and organize, demonstrate, and be pro active in things they want to do. Just like men have always done historically.

Well, I can't explain a premise that's wrong to begin with.

1) Gay men are not more tolerated. They are less tolerated.

2) Lesbians are not more discreet because they are less accepted. They are more accepted than homosexual men and they are more discreet because they have no need to act otherwise.

3) Gay men open up bars, etc, in spite of the fact that society does not show acceptance. Not because of it.

In fact, a case could be made that gay men act the way they do as a response of years of alienation and persecution that lesbians never had to suffer.

It is precisely that factor that may well answer your question.
