Well it's really not that hard. I would need to know the file type and how big the file is. Anything bigger than 100Mb would have to be split into multiple files.

He could also mean that he doesn't have the videos as files at all. He might have them on VHS or DVD. DVD is simple to if your computer has a DVD drive. VHS, you have to have a converter to connect your VCR to a USB port and then you can use something like Windows Movie Maker to create a digital file.

Yeah, I wondered if that was what you meant. I have the same problem myself. I have some good videos on VHS, but no way to get them on my computer. I plan on doing that in the future, just haven't gotten around to it.

Uh, duh. I know. That's what I said. Although actually you can get a converter like I was talking about for substanially less than the $150 this device costs.

What I meant is, so far, I haven't wanted to get VHS vids on my computer bad enough to spend the time and money to do it.

Well for me it's more about time than money, but I can still think of a lot of things I'd rather do with $150. Putting it toward a laser printer or LCD monitor being a couple of things that come to mind.
