Are you a folder or scruncher? I introduced this delicate topic a few years ago on RD (I think) and it was instructive. After visiting the Lavatory (Bathroom to you Americans) do you fold the toilet paper before use or scrunch it? I ask purely in the interests of science.

I personally fold but I suspect Rotter doesn't use any paper at all.

I recall seeing a thread about research in toilet roll use per capita on another forum once. Apparently British use more than any other nation. Some Septic alleged this was because we're full of shit generally, but obviously we're just more meticulously clean. Septics, Canucks and Germans followed close behind us anyway.

Inevitably, of all the civilised nations, the French used the least. I rather suspect that what they do use is only for wiping their snivelling fat noses anyway.

It is somehow fitting that there is a thread on toilet paper considering the vast mountains of manure this place generates.

I am, however, little perplexed by the whole idea of folding toilet paper. When you consider that the purpose of this item is to clear away any debris left behind when one communes with nature, it would seem that the more uneven the surface used, the more efficient it would be. The rough surface of a sponge is no accident. By folding the paper you reduce the efficiency and therefore have to use more to ... erm ... get the job done.

It also, I must say, reveals a rather startling need for tidy edges and rigid order in you, Batffink. I would have thought anyone who goes commando under his kilt would prefer things a little more free and easy.

I scrunch, just as my mother and grandmother did before me and just as my son and his children will do when I'm gone. Family tradition is important.

You were taught?

I was never taught, just left to get on with it. Being a practical sort, I soon worked out how to wipe my arse. To this day though I can't work out what I'm supposed to do with the paper afterwards, I usually either fold it neatly and put it back on top of the roll holder for someone else, or I toss it out of the window if its open.
