Here il be posting a few things that can make ur tech life easier..many of u might already be knowing them but this is for people who dont..Also the tech experts here can correct me or provide an easier alternative wherever possible..

An EASY WAY to fix corrupted file in win xp

This tutorial has been made so people that are having problems with corrupted files, can learn how to fix them easy.
Required:
1. Windows XP operating system
2. Windows XP cd
Now, follow this steps:
1. Place the xp cd in your cd/dvd drive
2. Go to start
3. run
4. type in 'sfc /scannow' (without the ')
Now it should all load, and fix all your corrupted file on win XP.

Lock Your Computer on Mouse Click!

Instead of pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL or windows + L to lock your machine you can create an icon to lock your machine. There are very simple steps by using it you can simply lock your computer using single mouse click.

Just Follow the simple step >>

1. Right click an empty spot on the desktop, point to New and click Shortcut.

2. In the Create Shortcut dialog box, type the following in the 'Type the location' of the item text box:

rundll32 user32.dll,LockWorkStation

3. Click Next

4. In "Type a name for this shortcut", type "" (any name as u wish) and Click Finish

5. This will Create a shortcut in your Desktop.

6.Now each time when you want to lock the computer , Just click on this shortcut.

Get better youtube quality videos


Step1: Click to video that you want to see, the link will display on Address bar. E.x:

Step2: Add &fmt=6 to the end of that string. That address like:

Enjoy it ! The higher quality video !!!

Step3: Add &fmt=18 to the end of that string, you'll have the best quality video with direct download link !

How to lock a folder with a password without a software

Steps:

1- make a new folder ( name it as you like )

2- inside this folder make a ( TXT ) file & copy inside it this (the entire thing)

3- After u copy the Commanding go to line 23 (or try using shortcut- CTRL+F and type password to locate the line) u will find this word : password here (Change it with any password u like.) is :

eg:

if NOT %pass%== narnia1234 goto FAIL
//so ur password here becomes narnia1234 .//

4- After that go to ‘save as ’ & name this file as "locker.bat "

5- Now back to the folder & u will find a ( LOCKER ) commanding.
(locker.exe)

6- Double Click on it & u will find a new folder (Private )

7- Ok ,, now copy what u want in this "private Folder" & after that come out of the folder, and Double click on locker again. It will open and ask if you want to lock your folder? Y/N ?

8- Type Y. your private folder will dissapear.

9- If you want to UNLOCK your folder ,go to (locker) & type your pass and you will see your private folder.

it not only hides the folder, but incase, u unhide all files... and try opening it without entering password, it'll take u to the control panel...

Also, if u want to store files on your Pen-Drive, u can use this script. No Software Required

In case u delete your Locker file (just in case), then u can make a new one (but with the same password) and open it from that.

Alternatively, u can keep this locker file somewhere else, and when u want to open ur folder, only then bring it back to that place ..

GOOGLE SEARCH TIPS

You can make your search more efficient by learning some search basics !
Try these tips :
1. Use Of '+' sign :
This ensures that the results returned to you will definatly consist of the word following the '+' sign. For Eg :
Search: reviews of +iPhone and iPod
This will show results containing the word reviews or iPod but the results will definatly consist of iPhone !
2. Use Of '-' sign :
Using '-' sign before any word will ensure that the particular word will not be included in the results !
3. Use Of '~' sign :
Using '~' before any word will return the results also containing the synonyms of the word !
4. Search a particular site :
To search a particular website you can use the following syntax in the google search :
Search: site:www.xyz.com abc

5. Define a word :
To get the definition of a word just use :
Search: define:abc
For Eg : Search: define:Computer
This will return you results which define 'Computer'.
6. Find Pages similar to a page :
To find a page similar i.e. consisting of same type of content, use the following syntax :
Search: related:http://www.xyz.com/
7. Search for exact phrase :
To search a set of words exactly together i.e.
For Eg :
Search: "contact us"
This will return the results containing both contact and us together !
8. Using the wild card '*' :
The * sign can be used in places where the whole word is not known.
For Eg:
Search: friend*
This will return the results containing friend , friends , friendship.
9. Using the '?' sign :
This is used when the full spelling of the word is not known.
For Eg:
Search: fri??d
This will result that in the results in which any alphabet can take the place of '?' sign.
10. Use of boolean operators :
The boolean operators like AND,OR,NOT can be used in search box to connect the words !
The search engine understands them as what they mean but the must be in capital letters !
For Eg:
Search: swim OR float
This will return the results containing either swim or float !

Use of PrintScreen for some fun

You know the use of Print screen button on the keyboard [present on top right above insert] .
It captures the screen , right ?
But now I will tell you how to use it for some fun .
Take screen shot of the desktop by pressing Print Screen on the desktop .
Go to Paint and paste this .
Save it .
For Windows XP use
1) On the desktop right click -----> arrange icons by ----> De-select 'Show Desktop Icons '.
2) Now right click the taskbar and select properties .
3) Check auto hide the taskbar. Click OK.
4) Now change your wallpaper and keep the one you saved earlier.
5) If paint is not closed, select File ---------> 'Set as background (Centered) '.

Now on the desktop even if you click any icon nothing will happen !!!

Now do I need to tell youhow you can use it for fun on someone else's PC ?

To revert back to normalcy change the wallpaper and select 'show desktop icons' on the right click menu .

Many might be aware of this but this is for those who are not


Here is some useful information for all.

Ctrl+C may be the most important work we do
everyday. But it's
not a very
safe thing to do. Read on to know why.

What happens when you press Ctrl+C while you are
Online... We do
copy various data by Ctrl + C for copying & pasting
elsewhere.

This copied data is stored in clipboard and is
accessible from
the net by
a combination of Javascripts and ASP.

Just try this:

1) Copy any text by Ctrl + C

2) Click the Link:

http://www.sourcecodesworld.com/special/clipboard.asp Unverified Link


3) You will see the text you copied was accessed by
this web
page.

Do not keep sensitive data (like passwords, credit
card numbers,
PIN etc.)
in the clipboard while surfing the web. It is
extremely easy to
extract
the text stored in the clipboard to steal your
sensitive
information.

See a suggestion from an expert:

You can stop hacking of clipboard content by doing:

Go to internet options of explorer -_ tools menu ->
Internet
option -> Security Custom level

In settings - Select disable under allow past
operations via
script.

Simpler trick to lock a folder

A small trick to lock any no. of folder using Command.have been using this since ages
Example : You want to lock a folder "Colles" located in C:
Go To Command >> C:\>
Type :
ren Colles Alt+1234 (note : Nt necessary to choose 1234, u can choose others too, bt nt all digit works.) and press enter
exit command & check the folder. The Folder Colles would have been renamed to a symbol.
Now try opening the folder, it wont
Try deleting the folder, it wont

To access, you will need to rename it again to a specified name using command itself.
Go To Command >> C:\>
Type :
ren Alt+1234 Colles (You will have to type the same digit code).

Give it a try Guyz

Note : Doesn't work in Vista

play movie on microsoft paint
yes u can play movie in paint here is the trick
first play movie u want
then hit the print screen button on the keyboard
when then media files are playing then open paint and
paste by pressing ctrl+v (paste key)
the movie starts on the paint application

HAVE ICONS WITH NO NAME

Normally you have to have a name for an icon, just spaces are not allowed. To create an icon with no name attached:

Make sure Num Lock is on
Highlight the Icon you want to change
Right-Mouse click and select Rename
While holding down the Alt key, type 0160

You can create a nice 3D effect for your windows
Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Colors
Make sure the following setting are there:

What to do when Folder option vanishes....

Method
1: Here's how you can get Folder Options back..
1: Open Start menu and from there select Run
2: type gpedit.msc and hit enter
3: now in the Group Policy window, from the left pane, select user configuration->Administrative Tempelates->windows components->Windows Explorer by highlighting it with the mouse cursor..
4: now in the right side you will see an option which says "Removes the Folder Options menu item from the Tools menu"
5: right click on this option and select properties
6: now in the properties under Setting tab, select Disabled and hit OK

THESE SMALL TRICKS WILL BE VERY USEFUL TO ALL TRY IT
1-->Want to play tricks by disabling the Task Manager? Do this find this key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersionPolicies\System
Create a new DWORD Value(by right Clicking) or modify existing 'DisableTaskMgr ' Key Double Click it and enter 0 or 1 (0 to disable and 1 to enable)

2-->In XP,GoTo Start->Run.Type prefetch.Press Enter.it shows prefetched programs&docs in explorer.U can safely delete them'll to clean up ur PC

3-->In XP, to insert current date/time in notepad press F5 key. Use 'Ctrl' + ';' combination to insert current date in excel sheet

4-->In XP,GoTo Start->Run.Type appwiz.cpl.Press Enter.It starts Add/Remove Programs(no need to go to control panel)

Don't you hate it when you accidentally hit the Caps Lock key?
sometimes u realise ur mistake after u have typed a whole sentence (it makes u type whole sentence again )
SO HERE IS A TRICK THAT INFORMS U THAT CAPSLOCK KEY IS ON
it will alert you when your finger taps the Caps Lock key?
With this tip, I'll show you how to make your computer beep & flash the next time it happens.
The first thing you need to do is get the computer to beep when you hit the Caps Lock key. Here's how:
1. Click the Start button, Settings, Control Panel (XP Users, hit the Start button, Control Panel). Open the Accessibility Options Icon.
2. On the Keyboard tab, click the "Use Toggle Keys" checkbox.
That's it for the beeping part. (OK )
Next, we need to get your screen to flash you, err, flash at you.
HOW TO DO THIS
1. From the Accessibility Options screen, click the Sound tab and check the "Use SoundSentry" checkbox.
2. Next click the Settings button and select "Flash active window" from the "Warning for windowed programs" drop down box.
That's it. Hit OK until you're clear of property and settings screens.
