Oh HC, my bad for haste. Actually, my reference was to magnetic flux integral calculations but, either way, we concur

the universe is (hypothesised to) constantly be, in a way, pulsating, due to the big bang, so i guess its size is varied siince its always changing.....but the universe does end, where its (again hypothesised) that everything stops...even time...so theoretically, the fountain of youth can be really said to be a place...that place being beyond the universe

Okay first off HC I didnt say planetry magnetism. The other thing is science cant explain everything!

And getting back to GAGGYs thread would be nice......SORRY DEAR!

Ghosts have been reported and chronicaled every since early Roman times. They appear to people even communicating and leading people to objects that have been hidden. They also have scared the hell out of living people at times as well.

Mostly accidental but some out of meaness and spite. Objects being thrown across rooms other interactions as well rooms growing intensly cold with no reason for it! Ghosts and spirits do exist and they always will be with us!

Not really sure how long space is Maddog because there's not a ruler big enough to measure it yet . Maybe someday. After space comes styrofoam packing chips....those damn suckers stick to everything

It's quite natural IMHO that any discussion of the paranormal would include a disussion of the application of scientific means to investigate reports. This is the stuff of which numerous TV shows about reported paranormal occurences have been made. Where the thread got sidetracked a bit was TNC's assertion that science is basically a religion, and no self-respecting scientist could possibly let that statement go unchallenged. So, I think that you're being too hard on yourself here, and I'm confident that gaggy will feel likewise (cos gaggy is great . )

Damn you Wiz...I was hoping Gaggy would punish me!

Actually, let me tell you my own experience...I used to live in deepest darkest Kent countryside. My "local" pub was about two miles down a dark single lane, windy road. One night I stayed quite late, being that kinda girl, and so a little before 1am I was happily winding my way home, no doubt giggling madly and listening to rabbits and the like. It was very dark...no street lights, few homes here and there. I sat down for a rest at some point and realised how cold I suddenly was. The final part of my journey saw the road go into a narrow, high-sided sharp climb up a hill.

As I started up the hill I saw something. About three hundred yards up the hill a erie white light came into view. I'd never noticed it before. At two hundred yards, my eyes were locked on the white light, and I could see a form in the glow now...goosebumps spread across my skin and I felt colder still. At a hundred yards I stood stock still. I couldnt move myself any closer. Fear filled me. My heart leapt into my throat and I admit to being scared to death. After a while I forced my legs forward, onwards...closer and closer...I dropped my eyes, not wanting to look at what was waiting for me..

It was only when I was a few feet away I realised it was a new lamp that someone had fitted at the end of their drive. The light was reflecting off the surface of an old tree...which conveniently looked like someones twisted face...

To say I nearly pissed myself laughing would be to understate my relief!

It took decades to mathematically prove that it was possible for the bumblebee to fly. Seems its wings were two short for its mass. Those of us who could actually see the bumblebee fly weren't at all surprised by the result.

To a believer, no proof is necessary. To a sceptic, no proof is possible.

Most of us fall somewhere in the middle.

Very true. I'm entirely a skeptic, but that just means I'm not going to go about blindly believing everything. If faced with actual proof, then ok, I can accept that. And while I find the paranormal absolutely fascinating and love to read of it, I have trouble accepting it as pure fact just because someone says it's so.

An interesting thread I didn't expect to find here. The more I get to know of you, the more I can say you people amaze me.

As I grew up, one house we lived in had two spirits.. both benign. Late at night with the bed against an outer wall in the main bedroom, my parents (and me when I slept with them) could hear a quiet conversation between two people. A man and woman. It was too low to make out what was being said, so no clues could be derived from the context. It was an easygoing discussion.. a normal sounding conversation between them.

This could be heard nowhere else in the house. Move the bed to some other wall, and nothing.

Every cat we ever had there got panicky and ran away the first chance they could to get out. Every dog we had while there would stare at the doorway leading to the kitchen and growl (nighttime only, not during the day). Rummaging noises were heard in the kitchen. Cabinent doors, drawers, silverware, a chair scooting across the floor, keys being picked up. Sometimes some leftover chicken would be gone from the fridge the night before. Again, nothing odd ever happened during the day.

We all could sense the presence of someone at different times. Even catch a glimpse now and then. But there was no fear. We got a very calm sense from them; they weren't really interested in us. Although, we would speak to them in passing - simple greetings or comments when a light went on/off for no reason while Mom and I folded the laundry in the evening.

For over two years, we kept investigating everything... locks, doors, windows, radio frequencies, even inside the walls.. any sign of a prank from outside. Then they found a report in the local newspaper from 10 years earlier that described a gruesome double murder had occurred at the house ... a young couple murdered in their sleep. They had both been stabbed to death.

Given that history for the house, there seemed to be no real mystery to any of it and we basically just stopped wondering about it. They were there still and they were pleased/content. We left them alone and they didn't mind us sharing the space with them.
