FileSonic and FileServe Info
Filesonic, one of the Internet’s leading cyberlocker services, has taken some drastic measures following the Megaupload shutdown and arrests last week. In addition to discontinuing its affiliates rewards program and not yet paying accrued money to members, the site has disabled all sharing functionality, leaving users only with access to their own files.
FileServe also followed the same path few hours later. Guess all popular filehosts are going down! Last edited by Crotch_Ripper; 01-23-2012 at 06:51 AM. |

All this plus the Mega thing, looks like the US authorities are finally starting to get serious about enforcing their copywrite laws. I wonder if those sites, like Oron, that are totally based overseas will eventually be blocked if they dont voluntarily comply?

Even if they are eventually blocked, there are ways around it

Yeah, there are ways around things, but would it be worth it for those businesses to directly challenge the US like that. Also there is the fact that if the US deems they are in violation of US law there is the possibility of arrest or extradition should their corporate leaders ever visit the US or a friendly country that has an extradition treaty.
Just guessing on that last point, international law can be tricky. I'm just thinking of the wikileaks guy, look at all the grief he has set himself up for.

The goody too shoes are on a mission to flag all "inappropriate videos" to the host companies, before megaupload got shut down oron and others likely ignored a majority of the flagging unless it was obviously too extreme, now as you say they are trying to act the good guys, wait too the media attention blows over, they will allow you to host again...90% of there business from uploaders is porn and movies.. |

Unlucky, all i can say lol.
I had a few TB's on my account, they were a good host for uploaders. Fact is me(and most people) already knew it couldnt last for more then a year. Even if they still had their site running they would have probably banned me for the insane amount of DMCA complaints. Its funny to see how so many people are crying now on every webmaster forum since they actually made a living out of it.Filesonic and all the other hosts did what most people would have done, run away with the money while they still can. Then come back when things have cooled down and start a site with a different name, thats how it goes and it will continue like that until politicians, hollywood etc come up with something more serious then a DMCA complaint. And i dont think thats ever gonna happen. Because the only thing that could really prevent most of the illegal downloading/filesharing is by making sure that uploading and hosting 1 copyrighted file alone is enough to take the site down or maybe even take further actions(like the SOPA).But if they would actually do it , sites like Youtube ,Google and paypal would be doomed and there is no way thats ever gonna happen. Besides that censorship would never be accepted by most people in most countries nowadays. Give it a few weeks and its crowded with hosts again. Last edited by emotje; 02-03-2012 at 09:41 AM. |

The Pirate Bay Says Goodbye to (Most) Torrents on February 29
The Pirate Bay has confirmed that all torrent files being shared by more than 10 people will be deleted on February 29. The decision is causing a small panic among the site’s users, but in reality little will change as all files will remain available through magnet links. The Pirate Bay crew told TorrentFreak that this is merely a “step forward in technology” and confirmed that the site is here to stay. More changes coming... |

And now I just read that Google is offering people a few bucks a month..good at AMAZON only of course, if you allow them to monitor your internet surfing openly. And the blind ass sheep are just lining up for it..they dont seem to realize that this is only an open book test..once they get the software they want to test perfected.. they will start to 'openly' watch us all.. wether we like it or not. AHHH.. dont ya just love the taste of tyranny??????
