Why not use a private tracker and bittorrents instead of RS, etc.?

Those can still be tracked I believe. Plus, torrents can be hard to keep alive with seeds.

Torrents are hard to maintain, and also with RShare you often get higher speeds - with premium that is

There is nothing worse than getting 99.7% of a file and then see it die! Besides who wants to broadcast their IP everywhere? And yes, I do know there are ways around the IP part.

I've gotten faster speeds off Torrents than Rshare but yea, they require people to be online to seed all the time.

Torrents is not good enough, the speed is awfully slower and sometimes people don't want to seed. The IP problem is problematic too, but hey, there are a lot of proxies around, and some torrent search engine like Isohunt use SSL encryption. But I really prefer RS.
