Well yes you are asking to much! Hey Obama is a politican and they are only in it for themselves?! Support and help our own people here....No way is that ever going to happen.

Okay and heres a hint folks its our governments job to send our Military people off to far strange lands...to meet new and interesting people...different from us, then take them over or kill them!

The United States has been interferring in peoples lives for hundreds of years starting with stealing land and killing the native people that where here before us.

i agree , but using it doesn't mean reading something you like and saying "oh that has to be the truth" it means reading , learning the things you don't like , the things that disagree with your viewpoint and making informed judgments/decisions . don't you think ?

long story. personally its hard for me to find many bush voters who are satisified with the direction of his past administration.
the war in iraq was at least expected to afford us cheap gasoline, which it now appears will not happen.
if gas were cheaper id say people would say the war was going better. its all a sick game, and the odds are not in our favor.
the government lies to us, i hate that it declares pointless wars that only make things work.
if a poor man in darfur made it to america and say the government here are liars, but he will never say the country sucks.
im angry with the past government for that, they were a part of america which, yes, IMHO sucks.

Ok, my turn. I am an American, born of two immigrants who left their country hoping to find a better life here. They did and bought me into the world in this country which I am so fucking grateful for, I thank the good Lord everyday for it.

I think that this country is the greatest country on the earth. We have had growing pains getting there and we will be greater in the future as long as we remember what made it great. It isn't its resources, its goverment, it's military or its geographic location. What made it great is the notion that you are free to be the best you can be and rise to what ever you want to be. More important is the character of the people who have lived here and what they did with the freedom they have. Life and lberty are pretty constant, but what makes you happy and the fact that you can pursue that is what sets the USA apart from other nations in history. If you want to be rich and are willing to take the risks, put in the effort and not quit at the first obsticle in your way, you will. If you only want to live a simple life and provide enough for you and yours, that should be what you want too.
Welfare is not what drew people here for years. Freedom is! Freedom that erodes with a bigger government. The men who created this nation feared government and rightly so. The natives of this land here before Columbus, had been made promises by this government. The ones here in Florida that didn't are some of the richest in the country, but still suffer some of the same ills.

I did not vote for Barack Obama, but he is my presedent, like it or not. He may surprise those of us who fear him or may justify that fear in time. Many blindly voted for him becaused he promised alot. He may having second thought about those promises. Remember that the government that can give you everything, can also take everything. He has a Congress that is the same party as him, but he does not have a mandate. Only 7 million votes separated him from Senator McCain whom I did not support either. My choice would have been Ron Paul.

As it is, we are where we are. The USA is still a force for good in the world only because the American people are good. The government has made mistakes which makes me question the wisdom of having it solve problems. Milton Friedman said, "When government brings a solution to a problem, it is one that usually creates more problems in its wake." If we don't have the right to be the world's police force, the world should should not be so quick to call on us when thugs threaten them. I believe we should be more like the Swiss. They have no empire, a weak central government, a sound currency. If their banks fail, they fail with no bailout. No country will attack them since they have a powerful defensive army made up of armed citizens ready to fight and an air force to back them up. We are now more like ancient Rome with outposts around the globe and we can project military power anywhere. But we do so always at risk of critisism and ridicule. We are the biggest providers of foreign aid and yet starvation goes on because people can't feed themselves. If this is how we are thanked for our generosity, governmnt should stop being generous with our money.

I love America, and I will defend the goodness that we have. We had missteps, beginning with slavery. Ending that abomination was done at the cost of 600,000 lves, all Americans, our bloodyest conflict. Indians lost land, Japanese Americans lost freedom. All of these due to racism which was a holdover of our Anglo-Saxon origins. Such institutional raciam is gone. There are black millionaires now, even a black billionaire and the biggest prise of all now, a black president. I wish him God speed and may his decisions only serve to broaden the greatest institution of this great country. The ability of its people to live their lives as they wish,so long as they do not interfere with others to do the same.
