The way you make me feel

I want to start by saying, I love this board. Tomorrow, I will show my appreciation, but right now, I want to talk about some of the older members.

There are times that I'm reading post, and you make this place seem like the ghetto of rape forums.

Everyone talks about how it was, and how all the "good" posters left, and how this person and that person is un-replaceable.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't voice their feelings, and I'm not saying that, what they are saying is not true. I'm just saying, that with whatever this board is going through, it does appear like a prominent neighborhood, where one class of people moves out and a new class of people move in. Naturally, if the class of people, or in this case, the class of threads and post changes, their will be a profound effect on the forum.

I can see why a person would be upset about that, but they have to remember a few things.

1. Things go in cycles, so we could get an influx of people posting quality movies, and starting quality threads.

2. There are still a lot of excellent posters here. Doesn't matter that they may post less, cause of the change the forum has taken, but they are still here.

3. We also need to think about the role we play in how things have changed. How come we just don't fill in the void ourselves.

So if this was once an upscale rape forum, and now it's the ghetto, it doesn't matter, cause it can change, if we change it. I believe Mat said it best.

Sorry to make you feel this way TOS. It's kinda "you had to have been there thing". Maybe you understand that, maybe not. We miss a lot of our old friends who are no longer here, who are having health problems or have been banned or who have just drifted away.

i know where your coming from snarco... I was there and it was my home and I miss it the way it was even through the various cycles it always seemed to come back but this time... ?

its a catch 22 situation. ive posted new threads and noone answers them, or the same five people. and thats great because the five people rock, but It gets disheartening too. Its nice when new blood comes along to post new threads though.

I remember when I very first came here and someone was complaining about the older members not posting and I recall (I think?????) somedude saying something like "alot of us have answered this question a few times, try repeating yourself a few times and see how you like it" or something to that effect. Now I know what its like to be that person that doesn't want to seem like I'm a broken record.. boring person... talking ad infinitum "yes gaggirl we have heard you say it a million times would you please shut up!!" I think the lack of re response to some of my recent posts and threads illustrates that nicely.

I'm probably naive, but maybe posting here takes some...development? I think, at least for me, I came here with my own fantasies and had no idea how RP or write stories that other people liked (I'm still am not sure that I do). I'm definitely nervous about starting new threads.
Gaggirl for example, you are much more confident and comfortable in your fantasy life than I am.

Thanks Snarksy old friend. I'm not gone yet. Absence is partly due to health and partly to transferring everything to a new 'puter. I'm on a whole new health regime now. (14 pills a day not including Viagra)

I wonder about that at times. I can understand to a degree. Even though I wasn't there when it all happened, I did experience the flow of the board in the past. After reading through 17 pages of the Rowdy Room and 58 pages of Idle talk, I can feel your pain. Example would be the April Fools joke that Somedude and Phantom did. Here I am taking a history lesson of the RB, and when I got to that thread, I too was fooled by it.

There are so many people from the past, that I never had a chance to chat with, that I wish I had knew, just so I could miss them.

Despite that, the people I have met in the here and now are very cool, and I guess I'll have to be satisfied with that.

Hmmm <strokes beard> So it seems that I too will be subject to the same fate. In the future, the climate and membership of the board my change, and then I will feel the pain of missing those who I was so used to seeing on a daily basis, and then I'll truly be able to empathize with what you are all going through.

Yeah, I feel you on that one. I feel like a newbie here, and am not yet, at ease posting here. In time, I'll get the hang of it. I just read lots of old threads and watch the flow of threads and post in the present.

For the record, your role playing and stories are very good. The first rape story I've ever read in my life was yours, and you was the first person that I role played with. Let me tell you, you are a lot better then you give yourself credit for. You may not get a lot of feedback on this board, but trust me, I know a lot of other feel the way I do when it comes to your writing ability.

Another thing you can do, is not care what others think. Just make sure that what you are doing makes you happy. You always come first. Then if others are pleased, good, if not, oh well, that's on them.

Don't worry so much about starting threads, cause you participate on threads that are already up and running, and that is more then sufficient.

When the times comes and you feel comfortable, then you can start a few more threads.

I'll tell you a secret, I have five thread ideas that I am nervous about starting, and some of them I might not ever start. So you are not alone.

Yeah, Gaggirl is like wine. She has already developed in her lifestyle, while others are like grape juice. Look the same, and are made from the same cloth so to speak, but there is a clear different. It's not just that some great old posters are gone. It's the quality of the newbies.

For instance, there are people who have been here only one month and have 2000+ posts. The board is just being flooded!

Yes I agree. It is true that I post a lot, but I believe in quality over quantity. Some people post their movies for monetary gain or whatever, and don't even talk.

It sucks, but it is what it is.

And there are some people that have been here for 2 - 3 years or longer, that hardly ever post, they are what I call lurkers, or none participants.

I guess. For the first week, I was trying to feel this place out. I wasn't going to come in here writing term papers on science, religion, philosophy, conspiracy or other subjects like that unless I knew I would get a certain level of feed back.

After one week, I ended up mostly chatting with people through PM's and joking around with a few of the fellas and ladies on the forum.

There are still a lot of good members around, who keep this board going whether I'm here or not.

Also I need to read more stories and get involved with the role playing. That seems to be where I have to go now to get interaction here, which is fine with me.

This board has moments where it is very active with non stop posting, usually when certain females come around. Then there are other times, when I can go to sleep at night, and wake up, and no one has posted anything (except for the movie sections).

I just go with the flow.
