Since I've seen it in many other threads. The reason why all Japanese movies have genitals censored is that, under Japanese law, it is illegal to show pictures of genitals. It's legal to make movies of rape fantasies, or anything else, but you can't show cocks and cunts.
I've never understood it.

Actually Angkorwat this is a common misconception along the same lines that it's illegal to combine sex and bondage in the US. But in both cases it's rarely done because it would be more likely to galvanize those who seek to stamp out "immorality" {be it individuals or the government}. The origin of the Japanese censorship goes back to the time of the US occupation after the second world war. At that time the US rewrote much of Japanese law making them a more "democratic and free" nation. However they left the tight laws regarding porn on the books.

BUT.. just like US law, the Japanese laws state something flowery about not allowing the display of anything which would seek to be injurious to the public morality. It doesn't specifically require censoring of genitalia in any way {that is self-imposed by the JAV industry} but like many US anti-porn laws is worded in such a way that it can be very broadly interpreted {and prosecuted}. In recent years in Japan the morals have been continuing to relax and so Japanese porn makers have switched to the "thin censor" style which leaves very little to the imagination and recently mainstream movies have been shown in Japan featuring full frontal nudity without any censorship as they have been deemed to have "artistic merit".

My own take on Japanese optical censoring is this, when I first came across it I was very much turned off and didn't watch it but then I was directed by a friend to a very rough rape video from Attackers and watched it. I found that I quickly forgot about the censorship and got into the action {quite frankly the over-emphasis on extreme closeups in US porn can be equally off putting, after seeing a giant dick and a guy's hairy ass pumping away at a barely visible pussy {forgive my crude language here} on the screen for 5 minutes, I get the idea

} Nowadays I watch JAV and rarely even notice the censorship.
