What neurosis do you think fits the most in a rapist mind ?

- Paranoia ? (shit they all hate me, let's rape that bitch that's been starring at me, at least she'll know I have a big dick !)

- Schizophrenia ? (fuck I am tired to jump from one personality to another and find myself lost in a mall not even doing what I wanted to buy ! Let's rape a girl, even if I switch to another personality during the rape, I'll still have a pussy nearby, and that will fix my mind !)

Well ... part of my doctoral thesis, so don't get me started ...

Although a rapist might suffer from various neuroses we're usually talking about mental or personality disorders they might suffer from. While a serial rapist usually does suffer from one of more of those a single rapist most times doesn't at all.
This is however too vast a field to answer simply with one post without expanding it to several pages.

Here are some personality disorders a (serial) rapist might be diagnosed with:

- God complex
- Narcissistic PD
- Obsessive-compulsive PD
- Antisocial PD
- Histrionic PD
- Paranoid PD (not to be confused with paranoid schizophrenia, that's more what you mentioned, shysnale)
- Schizoid PD
- Schizotypal PD
- Borderline PD

Those are just a few PDs a serial perpetrator can suffer from (often also combined states-of-mind as well). Actually explaining them all would take too much time right now so if you're seriously interested in them ... look them up. That's what books are for ...

Ah ... by the way ... just to make a distinction here: "Schizophrenia" has nothing to do with having several personalities. What you're referring to would be "dissociative identity disorder" (formerly often referred to as "multiple personality disorder"). Generally this specific disorder - as well as its causes and treatments - is still in dispute, even its very existence.
Speaking of rapists ... to my knowledge there is no known case of a rapist ever being diagnosed with DID.

Thanks Stern, as a person who's is in the Psych. field myself, I often feel like correcting everyones false perception of mental disorder, and it can be unnerving.
