I've been drinking this Russian beer recently, it's really nice stuff and packs a decent 5.1%.

What German beers do you like?

Aside from that Russian Beer Baltika no 3, i kinda like some of the American beers, miller genuine draft is real nice and coors light is ok too.

I really don't like some of these Thai and Indian beers, like tiger beer or cobra beer, even though they have cool names. I think they brew them differently than we do here in the west, they have a weird aftertaste.

Warsteiner, and occassionaly Beck's. I can't get into Tiger or any of the Asian beers really. I don't mind Japanese beer, but Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, etc taste like ass after 2-3 sips.

Yeah man i think the same about most asian beers, my dad said they use chemical to get the beer ready quicker, instead of letting it brew and ferment naturally.

I like that Japanese beer Asahi. It's pretty cool, expensive here though so i rarely drink it.

It is actually pretty much exactly like that.
They have even bigger beer mugs (as well as even ... "bigger" ... women) there.

Although the Oktoberfest has become a European (if not international) event so you should be aware of two things if you ever decide to venture there:

a) It is really, really a massive event, it's so crowded, simple moving is hard already.
b) The beer is outrageously expensive, compared to regular German prices.

I would think it's oompa band polka kind of tunes... at least that's what I picture. Beer and schnitzel is awfully nice, and by the look of those ladies it's easily twice as nice with crazy hot German girls everywhere. Hmmm I may have to go out for German food sometime soon.

I put the idea of going to Oktoberfest to my buddies today, you know what the first thing they said was....."when is it"

They were up for the trip though so if i keep the idea in their heads they should hopefully go.

Stern, how much we talking for a beer here? In the u.k it's around Â£2.40 a pint, so in monopoly mon.... errr i mean euros that's around 3.05 euros. Is it more than that?

I toyed with the idea of buying Mexican beer today, but in the end bought the Russian stuff.

Haha, I like how you say Monopoly money. I still have some Francs left when I went to France 8 years ago. It was so cool spending it, it was like I wasnt spending real money.

In a German bar a regular beer (0,3 - 0,5l) costs around 2-4 â‚¬, a sixpack from the supermarket (6x0,5l) costs around 4-6 â‚¬ ... at the Oktoberfest a large mug (1l) costs around 7 â‚¬ each.

ok so thats around £5.50 give or take, and 1 litre is around 1 3/4 pints so thats not to bad really. Obviously all other facilities in the area such as accomdation and travel will go up in price i imagine. But what the hell, i bet oktoberfest rocks, and like ChiTown says you only live once.

Oktoberfest is really a great event, but I can attest it's also crowded.
I went there 3 or 4 years ago with friends, and everything is huge there: tents, beer mugs, women tits...

The thing is, with 1L drinks, you have to go to pee quite often. And you're not the only one in the 'tent'. I can understand a few German words but my German is globally very poor. So first time I went to pee I was trying to make my way, it was really difficult. I was a bit drunk and did not understand what people were shooting at me, and why everybody was walking out and not in like me. I got it when I finally reached the toilets: they were shooting at me "Es ist der Ausgang!" (It's the exit!).

So if you go there, learn the basics, and it's a really great event

Duely noted, learn the lingo; actually i did some German in school so maybe brushing up on the language won't be as hard.

I tried a beer called Duvel from Blegium tonight, it wasn't very nice despite being 8.5% I won't be buying it again anyway.
