Wow, there must be 20 spam threads on here today. I like this board, I hate to see it desecrated like this. Seriously, if we took a vote, how many new members would be willing to undergo a wait period, in return for helping to rid the site of this?

Just asking! I'm still here and I know how to scroll past the crap now. BUT I still have to ask. Is everyone really happy with this? I mean, is the trade off worth it? That is all. I promise I will not ask another question in relation to this, ever.

The waiting period will not happen, the owner of the board doesnt want it and frankly most of the current members dont either. We clean the SPAM up quickly and quietly everyday.

Hard as they hit the board in about 10 minutes its was all gone and the IPs banned

Sasha, I think everyone can understand your frustration, but as quickly as the spam was cleared I think it’s a small inconvenience to deal with when the trade off is no posting restrictions for new members. But even if every newbie agreed with you and voted as such, the bottom-line is, internet sites are not a Democracy, the person who pays the bills calls the shots.

True - not a democracy - and sometimes the owner of sites like these are completely disconnected from those that are actually running it anyway - so not only can WE say whatever we want to happen, the mods are not the ones really turning the screws in that sense either.

Thing is - in Sasha's defense - every individual on here deals with different amounts of spam depending on the time zone they're in when they're on the site...
Opening the 'new posts' this morning there were 200 new threads (or threads coming up with new comments).
I'm not good at filtering out the ones that have true content yet - some of them seem totally appropriate to have content judging by their title - so it gets tedious to try and find the real ones.

I am sure we'll get used to it and figure out a way to deal with it - not like we have a choice. Its time to stop bitching about it though I think - we are lucky to have a place to come to and meet as friends.

Love it or leave it I guess.

I have thought about messaging some of the spammers, telling them that I was shocked to find their ad on a rape fantasy site. Bad PR would cause them to stop targeting the site. After all, I'm sure they get zero business from here, so I don't understand why they do it. But then, I also don't understand people calling my phone number and trying to sell me stuff...

I am extremely grateful for this board. As promised, I won't be addressing this issue again. I will, however, post stories.
