In answer to your question, my stories tend to get long because I think of detail and twists I want to include, but short can be beautiful: it's not size that counts, but the use you make of it. I've got one, possibly two ideas for short ones that started as ideas for policewoman jokes, but I realised to be worthwhile they had to be a bit longer than that.
