THe window was rusted shut. The only way out was to break it. I shuddered at the thought of him hearing my escape. I knew there was no where to run, he would undoubtedly catch me if he heard the breaking glass. HOw could this be happening? Panicked, I stood there frozen. Fight, or die, I contemplated. My hands shook rigorously, making it difficult for me to pick up the heavy metal lamp from the nightstand. I managed to eventually get a good grip on it's solid base and swing it up over my head. With a great cry of exertion, I smashed it through the window, glass shattering everywhere.
