Again, the only time Ireland was united was when it was part of the United Kingdom. It certainly wasn’t at peace before the Normans invaded. Leaving in 1920 or 1970 would just have left a unionist population in the north in exactly the same position as the nationalist population is now. Being part of a country they wanted no part of, and at war with every one around them.
