I think some people "collect" friends and will stalk every new person that signs on just to add them to their collection. I only friend someone or accept their friend request if we have had some interaction or if what they post consistently interests me or makes me laugh.

To me, its silly to have "friends" you never interact with, which is one reason why I cleaned out my list of friends. When I looked at it, I saw "dead people." (or people who had left RB months ago, usually to go to softer sites.)
