As far as Ms. Merkel's politics, I don't have a dog in the fight so just as I would have said in 1939, I really haven't followed the current events in Europe and can't speak intelligently on the subject. I commented regarding their resemblance in physical appearance.

As far as your second sentence, I fear that we must agree to agree. Mrs. Thatcher was a brilliant and grand lady!

On a non-related subject, yesterday, I received my copy of Nine Rivers from Jordan. I read it last night. Thanks for the recommendation, it was a good read and very thought provoking. I'd never read or heard accounts of German soldiers ever having wired live enemy wounded with explosives. And, I found the following quote to be prophetic: "I wonder how soon it will be before these macabre, sub-human crimes will be glossed over and forgotten, and for what reason?"
