Read something new on the the hunger strikes. After the fourth death, the IRA leadership inside Long Kesh had brokered a preliminary deal with the British government to end the stand off. There would be no mention of political status for the prisoners, saving face for the Thatcher government. The volunteers would be permitted to wear their own clothing, fulfilling a key demand of the prisoners

This was passed to the IRA leadership outside. Gerry, I was never in the IRA, Adam's scuttled the deal. Six more volunteers died a slow death. No doubt Gerry sat down to a hearty supper after his decision. Reinforces my long held belief that Gerry Adam's is a spineless cunt.
