The EU are finally coming round to the idea that technology could be used to monitor customs at the border between the UK and Ireland. This would mean no border infrastructure, and no reason for so called regulatory alignment or a customs union.

Freedom of movement of people, which should never have been an issue could continue so long as Ireland stays out of Schengen. So long that is, as the IRA behaves itself.
