Persistent reports are still circulating that a deal to get Stormont up and running was very very close. Michelle O'Neil and Arlene Foster were reported to be exchanging e mails hammering out the details of the deal. Apparently there was to be some sort of concession being offered to Sinn Fein on the language issue, possibly in return for SF dropping their opposition to Foster returning as First Minister after the RHI debacle.
the hard liners in the DUP dug in their heels and scuttled the deal. Or so the rumor goes.
