The impact is so much greater if the male victim is a tough guy, or sees himself as a tough guy and an alpha male. Getting raped just once strips away that toughness. He can try to recover afterwards but it won't change the fact that he was someone's bitch. It's even worse in prison because the rapist may brag to the other inmates so everyone knows about it. They may even get together to organize a gangrape, further destroying the victim's tough guy image until nothing remains.
Incidentally, the same cannot be said about crossdressers and femboys. I don't think I have to explain why.
