I've read a little more on the Kingsmill massacre. The PIRA has never to this day admitted responsibility, but an inquiry in 2011 found that they were responsible. The CPS last year decided that there was no grounds for prosecution of chief suspects in the killings.

I wonder if the refusal to take responsibility is a deliberate strategy by Sinn Fein/PIRA to ostracise elements of the volunteers that they don't approve of? Knowing that they risk prosecution and imprisonment to their dying day if they weren't provis?
