"St Jude" storm?

Would just like to confirm that the members in the path of that storm are well.

Five killed. Tree uprooted in Michael Fishs garden, which won't hold any significance to anyone except myself and Pete. Possibly Debaser. Estimated £4billion in damage and lost revenue. Disruption to transport and power. One of the dead was one of those idiotic storm chasers, who was reportedly washed out to sea. Had it coming. Hope nobody felt obliged to put themself at risk saving him or searching for the corpse. I'm sure Neptune will let his family have it back when the fish are done with it.

Sierra 10-30-2013 10:05 PM

Agreed about the storm chaser. I'm actually surprised more of them don't meet their Maker the same way. I'm very glad that nobody felt the need to interfere with his attempt to garnish the Darwin award for 2013. Everyone should be allowed to go to hell in their own way.

Hope all of you over there and the people you care about are safe.

FuckingRotter 10-30-2013 10:29 PM

It just rained a bit, I'm fine, thank you.

Wasn't so bad here in London. A few trees down, garden fences in strange places and a few trampolines disapeared but nothing too major :)

Are you sure you want them dry inside Batffink?

batffink 11-02-2013 02:20 AM

You're only jealous Snarksy. Sheep are very selective you know.

perfectlyformed 11-02-2013 05:44 AM

Are you guys talking about ACTUAL sheep or is it a euphemisim?

batffink 11-02-2013 09:40 AM

Are Euphemisms a new breed? My preference is for Swaledales.

To be honest reports of the storm were, pardon the pun, overblown.

I had to go to work through the tail end of it, and to be honest it didn't feel any stronger than what I encountered walking back to the station after attending Erotica 2013 the day before.

Where I was the only trouble came when they closed the bridge near me that spanned the Thames, when some idiot in a double decker bus choose the wrong tunnel and become rather stuck...oops...P45 for him me thinks.

FuckingRotter 12-06-2013 09:55 PM

Think Thursdays storm was worse. Was windy all morning, then started to rain a little around midday. Then at 12.30pm all hell let loose! The rain came in horizontally from a roughly north-easterly direction, blown by a wind that made the rain feel like hail stones.

Two of us were still out on the slab, we took shelter against the south elevation of the north wall. I kid you not. When the rain stopped, I made to head back to the site welfare area. Stepping out from behind the wall I turned to face the wind and just could not take a step forward. Bollocks to that! Got back behind that wall a bit quick.

The worst of it passed in about fifteen minutes, then the youngest of site management appeared on the slab to tell us site was shut.

Driving back to Manchester, there were radio reports of virtually every major motorway in the region being shut due to overturned vehicles. Traffic was slow, but not too bad, quiet time of day. Plus, many seemed to have had the good sense to stay at home.

Two killed. Around 120 000 holes reported without power. 1500 homes reported flooded. Winds of 140mph recorded in Scotland. Floods along the coast in North Wales, The Wirral, The Fylde, and in the south-eastern corner of England from Lincolnshire down to Essex.

Where's Pete?
