I know what video you are talking about, and yes Christina at one time thought she was Puerto Rican and tried way too hard to be Latino. But guess what? girls who are half this half that go through that. I went through that. I spent my entire life up untill I was 20 years old trying SO HARD to be white when most white people didnt see me as such. I even got threatened of being jumped before because I was "vendita". Then I tried to be Mexican and I was "la guera". You speak of culture and race like its so simple. I know that its not. Especially not in this country. When you are black, you are black, when you are white you are white. When you are asian you are asian. I love being mixed (and the guys love it too ;)) but dont think that we see race and culture as simple as you do.

I've seen threads about blondes and red heads. (Maybe not on this board, but I've seen plenty of them). I've seen threads about asian chicks. What's more, Ive seen on multiple boards that there are guys who wonder where the Black women are in rape porn. Those guys seem to be fantasizing about those women. I'm sorry if you had trouble fitting in with any groups because of your mixed race as a kid. I knew plenty of kids who didn't and I grew up in the 1960's, 1970's and early 1980's-some of that in the deep South. I saw people who had trouble, too, don't get me wrong, but it was more of a case-by-case thing than the way EVERY race seemed to feel free to look down on Blacks back then.

A "vendida" or whatever it was I was called is slang I think, in spanish it means "traitor". "Guera" is "white one". Its sometimes used as a term of endearment, but not in my case. As for "acting white", I only had white friends and liked white guys, tried to do my hair like a white girl, even though my hair wasnt like most white girls. I hated it when my family from Mexico came to visit because my friends made fun of them. When I said my name, it was in English.

And by acting Mexican, no I didnt embrace stereotypes, I just started dating Mexican guys and going to Mexican clubs, when the "white" me before that would never step foot in any place Mexicans were. When I said my name, it was in spanish. I even got into Mexican nationalism and joined a Latina sorority my first year of college. I even helped to lead an event called Noche de Gala, a show on Latino heritage where I organized the Rumba dance. I was all into that shit.

Assyrians are a destinct group likewise so are Persians. They shouldn't be lumped in with Arabs in the Araban peninsula. They have destinct culture and a seperate lineage. Its all about pronunciation. The name "Myra" in english sounds like M-i-ra. In spanish, it sounds like M-i-da. the name Jorge as well is "George" in english and is "Whore-hey" in spanish. I knew a guy with that name and we called him whore.


Well, they are tying to intermix white, but they themselves are not trying to claim white like I can.

Heres a list of the nationalities that I've been mistaken for starting with most common: Puerto Rican, Italian, Greek, Polish, Armenian, Cuban, Middle eastern of some sort, Salvadorean, Irish.....and ALOT of people had asked if I was black/white. Just the other day a guy asked me if I was mixed black/white. Its black people who mostly ask me that. I even had one black girl insist that I had black in me. I think I have alot of features that make people think I'm mixed, the hair and also I'm bootylicious. The guys love it. To be honest, I have no idea where my hair comes from. My dad doesnt have that hair, his mothers side are straight brown ass Mexicans where his dad is a little more white Portuguese mixed Ladinos. My mom's family all has straight hair. Nobody in my family has my hair. My mom's boyfriend before my dad was Puerto Rican, but I'm not even trying to find out!:D I blend perfectly in with the Ricans, and I hate Ricans!

I dont know, it really depends on the person and what they see in me. I mean one person mistakes me for being black/white byproduct while someone else thinks I am Irish, and someone else thinks I'm middleastern. Kinda strange if you ask me. When I look in the mirror, I dont see race, I dont see a Mexican/Russian princess that I am, but I just see me...race is not even important to me. I think mixed people are beautiful. Haha, hell no. The funny thing about the name Lupe, short for Guadelupe, is that alot of men have that name, I think its actually unisex. the Virgen Guadalupe is a Mexican saint. Yeah, when I was little and my grandma use to stay in this Rican neighborhood, all the dudes with their corn rows and fro's. My dad told me that they were half black thats why they looked the way they did, and that image kind of stayed in my mind. They sure looked different from Mexicans. But nowadays I've been around and I've seen guys from different cultures and they all differ in looks depending on the person. Ricans can look white, black, mixed, or brown. Mexicans are pretty universally the same, with a few exceptions, but they are exceptions none the less and enough of them to prevent me from making blanket statements. I have never seen a black Mexican. Or at least not here in the states or even in Mexico. Or at least not in Mexico where we are from. Maybe down south or something.
