sooooo... I've been out of town for a bit, and got back home today. Just cleaned my apartment up a bit, brewed up a cup of coffee, and returned all my phone messages/e-mails. YESSSS, a night off, in my apartment alone! It's so nice every once and a while...time to turn off the cell, practice a little, read, chill out, and of course indulge in rape thoughts...

So everybody, enjoy what little precious off-time we get now and then!

I play electric and upright bass, and got back this morning from playing with this singer-songwriter... its cool, I love playing that style and traveling and all, but after that, tonight, I can just play and practice exactly what I WANT!!! HA... Its always the struggle... what do you focus your time on musically... stuff that you know will get you $ like theater and singer-songwriter stuff, teaching, or focus on your own idealistic shit that you write, or whatever...

Nope, went to Indiana University for classical and jazz perf... and damn you for reminding me of loans!!!

Yeah, well, I had to start studying something else once I got out of music school; It's just not enough money :( . BTW, i used to live in manhattan(village by nyu) and play in NWS there. Best time ever, but fucking ridiculous cost of living! Anyways, since u like jazz.... you ever go to the blue note and heard/ seen richotchet trio?

Ha, yeah the $ situation can be tricky with music, you know the deal... it seems Broadway stuff and touring is fine for $, but if you are trying to JUST play jazz or JUST be a "rock star" or whatever, forget it, you are most likely fucked... not always, but most likely...

Yeah must have been fun living in the village, good stuff down there, I am on the UWS in the 80's, which is wayyy more laid back.

The Blue Note is cool, i have played there a couple of times (suprise suprise the $ isn't all THAT great even there) and have been to some cool shows there... but never heard of that group, I will have to check them out...

And if you are in the city again, go to the 55 bar... the BEST musicians there, not alot of people, not really a tourist spot... NICE
