I made a team of experts:Stainless Steel Rat,Crotch Ripper,Woody & me!
In this thread you will learn all the tricks on how to recognize and avoid spam,malawares,phishing,bad host sites and many other!

Just few rules:
Only my team can post in this thread,if you are not one of them,just pm me with your subject and your suggestions!
I want to keep this thread very clean,so don't leave responses as "Thanks" or other,you can thank each poster with a pm or rep ;)
So i want it to be only Tech suggestions and tips!

I will start with Spam.

What is Spam?

Forum spam is the posting of advertisements, abusive, or unwanted messages on Internet forums. It is generally posted by automated spambots.

Most forum spam consists of links to external sites, with the dual goals of increasing search engine visibility in highly competitive areas such as weight loss, pharmaceuticals, gambling, pornography, real estate or loans, and generating more traffic for these commercial websites.

Spam posts may contain anything from a single link, to dozens of links. Text content is minimal, usually innocuous and unrelated to the forum's topic.

How to recognize Spam?
* a wide image;
* a very long string of characters without breaks;
* a long line with the specification that the browser should not break it (for instance, use of the HTML tags <pre> or <nobr>);
* a table with many columns, in particular if columns contain a long word (the minimum width of a column is the width of the longest word in it);
* a table where the HTML specifies a large width.

Suggestions:
-Never click on spam links!

Phishing

What is phishing?

In the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Communications purporting to be from popular social web sites, auction sites, online payment processors.

It often directs users to enter details at a fake website whose look and feel are almost identical to the legitimate one. Even when using server authentication, it may require tremendous skill to detect that the website is fake. Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to fool users

The term is a variant of fishing and alludes to baits used to "catch" financial information and passwords.

How to recognize Phishing?

Most methods of phishing use some form of technical deception designed to make a link to appear to belong to the spoofed organization. Misspelled URL's or the use of subdomains are common tricks used by phishers.

I will make an example for Rapidshare phishing.(Thanks to woody2 for this one)
On the download page(often hidden under some protect-links url)

Step 1:right click and go to View Page Source

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/newland11/Forum/Phish1-1.jpg

Step 2:a window will open and a link will compare.In this case it's phishing,you can clearly see that the link is xilla.blackapplehost.com and then the redirection to the rapidshare file.

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/newland11/Forum/Phish3-1.jpg

Now,this is how it should be when you click on View Page Source(this is a true Rs page)
You can clearly see that rapidshare.com is repeated over and over on the page:

Some days ago someone (a perv :D) asked me how to delete their history on the computer.
Typical situation:he shares a computer with other people and doesn't want them to see what pages he visited(rape,porn,rape,porn)
So he asked me how to delete all the internet tracks and tracks of documents recently opened.

You can do it manually but you can also use a freeware software like CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com)
It's very fast.After you run the software there will be no traces of any activity on the computer!Cool right?:)

It deletes your:
-Temporary files
- History
- Cookies
- Autocomplete form history

There's a few other ways to hide your internet tracks. If you're using Firefox, you can use their Private Browsing feature in Tools->Start Private Browsing. This isolates all cookies and history to that session and no one will be the wiser.

Another way to do it is to use a private web browser like Browzar :http://www.browzar.com/index.html This browser is even more secure since you can have all your private sites in one place, even bookmarked, and no one will be able to see it since access to the browser is password protected.

And lastly, you can put an operating system like Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ onto a flash drive. This method allows you to use any computer to browse from since all you have to do is plug in the flash drive and reboot the computer.

Here's the keeping our computers safe!
